Artist's Comments

I have had this terrain render for over 6 months and have been slowly evolving it since. I wanted a space scene, but I don't have a lot of experience with spacescapes, so it took a long time for me to be happy with the outcome.
This is my favorite terrain render. The original was rendered at 10,000 pixels wide.
If anybody has critiques that would help with the space art part, they would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to improve my skills in that department.

hmm... the only real problem with the spacescape part would be that you have too many planets too close together...
if the middle planet/moon was even smaller and perhaps behind and to the side of the big planet, i think it would look more "real".
another thing i noticed after examining this picture for a couple minutes was that the shadows on the terrain aren't where they should be according to the lighting on the planets (or vice-versa).

but other than that, very nice picture!

Love the terrain here, works really well for a high-altitude view. The hardest part of doing Terraspace images is the transition from ground to space. I haven't given it a try yet, but this tutorial: [link] gives you everything you need to know.
